I liked the first and wanted to like the second but I found the main character quite pathetic and I couldn’t stomach reading while she settled for a jerk love interest.

K - I really like this series but I felt like I didn’t know enough about the characters to get to the solution. Sure, the main characters are well defined. But the ones just in this book are a bit unknown.

I found this to be a really enjoyable, offbeat and slighty wacky addition to the Cozy mystery genre, even though I haven't read the first book. That said, I think there is a tremendous amount of set-up that will make the first book worth reading. Because Josie Way has recently found out she is a Witch and become a librarian in the most odd library I can imagine. And moved to the small town of Wilfred, Oregon. Turns out behind a librarian is the best career imaginable for Josie because she is a bibliomancer-books talk to her. If a customer is looking for a book or a recommendation, Josie can just shut her eyes and the book will appear in her mind. This comes in handy when she is trying to research the mysterious disappearance of the estranged wife of Josie's unrequited crush. It's hard to go into much more plot detail without spoling things, but an abandoned mill site appears to be cursed, and witches are good at figuring that out. And then Josie's romantic longings will keep readers glued until the last page (and books to come.)

I am loving this series and am so glad I found it. The town, characters, the magic and of course the cute Kitty all make for a entertaining read. While I guessed the killer I still enjoyed the book so much. The cozy vibes are just what I needed. Highly recommend!
