The world building in the fourth book is superb. Even better, however, is its tireless lessons about the strength of love in the face of fear.
“It was Voldemort, Harry thought, staring up at the canopy of his bed in the darkness, it all came back to Voldemort… He was the one who had torn these families apart, who had ruined all these lives…”
“Harry crouched behind the headstone and knew the end had come. There was no hope… No help to be had. And as he heard Voldemort draw nearer still, he knew one thing only, and it was beyond fear or reason: He was not going to die crouching here like a child playing hide-and-seek; he was not going to die kneeling at Voldemort’s feet… He was going to die upright like his father, and he was going to die trying to defend himself, even if no defense was possible…”
“I say to you all, once again— in the light of Lord Voldemort’s return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort’s gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight if only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.”
“Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.”

Never cried to a Harry Potter book before but I guess there’s a first time for everything. RIP Cedric and just thinking about how much this poor young boy has gone through really got to me this time. Also James and Lily coming out of the wand made me tear up thinking about how young they were when they sacrificed everything for their baby boy. Fuck JKR for aging them up in the movies
