One thing I always struggle with when it comes to Ng's books, is that she has a tendency to give her characters this one defining trait that makes up their whole personality and that's it. So most of them feel too one-dimensional, too obsessed with being one thing and one thing only, which makes it hard for me to really connect with them.

sweet at times and heart wrenching at others. speaks to white womanhood in a real and exposing way - so much so that you want to slap the characters in the face every once in a while. end left me frustrated.

Really enjoyed this one. Mia and Pearl move to Shaker Heights. Pearl forms a connection to their landlords, The Richardson’s.

I don’t know why it took me so long to get around to this book because it was fantastic!

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is a contemporary fiction novel following two families as their lives briefly overlap revealing secrets in the process. I really loved this book! It had characters that felt real and people to root for (as well as hate) and interesting subplots. I really liked how the author interweaved the present storyline with scenes from the past; I felt like it really added dimension to the characters and upped the stakes of the book. I’d highly recommend picking this up if you have the time.
