I was thrilled and terrified and constantly guessing at what was coming next! I couldn’t guess though because the plot twist lacks any context  throughout the narrative. There’s no indication, no hint, no sense really. Sure it was shocking. But that’s bc it makes no sense. It feels like cheating.

Casey's Challenge 2017 - #14 Ugly Cover

I really enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful, full of twists and turns and some I didn’t even see coming! If you like a good book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, you’ll enjoy this. At the end of the book it’s really a story of a Mother’s love and what they’d do for their child. So good!!

I'm only giving this 2 stars because of the author's ability to create a "page-turner" even with a ridiculous story.

I picked this book after listening to Still Missing by same author. However I would never guess it's the same person writing this mess of a book.

Domestic abuse is a very serious subject and in the beginning of the story Lindsay and Andrew feel very believable as a newly married couple who over time disintegrate into an abusive marriage. Once Lindsay has a child and realizes she is putting them both at risk, she escapes, he ends up jailed.

Forward 10 years and this book becomes one irritating mess starting with the worlds most annoyingly, dumbest, whinny teen I've ever read about! I couldn't stop my eyes rolling around in my head everytime that girl showed up in the pages. Also the big "reveal" was so unlikely and and cringe worthy that it almost made me laugh. Sloppy, sloppy ending ! Not sure if I'll try another.

The kind of mindless thriller you want when you’re taking a sick day.

Well, this one was certainly a doozy. Lots of back and forth between past and present for a good majority of the book, which I enjoyed, but once this stops it get's a little dry for a good 100 pages. Characters are really interesting and Chevy Stevens does a good job weaving between people, giving no one "main character" status.

The twist at the end, though, was expected given the revelations that took place. Was pretty disappointed that the big reveal didn't happen until the last 20 or so pages. Overall, a good weekend read!

11 years ago, Lindsey Nash escaped her abusive marriage with her daughter Sophie. Her ex-husband is now out of jail and Lindsey is terrified. After a break-in at her house, Lindsey is convinced it's Andrew back again to haunt her. Andrew claims he's changed, but Lindsey is not convinced Andrew will stop until she's dead.

BRUH. I did NOT expect to love this book as much as I did. The book is so action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat from page 1. A lot of the twists and turns I did not see coming and was totally off with how I thought the story was going to progress! There were definitely a lot of mind games that had you second guessing everything that was happening through out the story. It was fast paced and suspenseful in all the right places. The writing is very simple, but it flows nicely and is easy to follow. The story is told from alternative perspectives between Sophie and Lindsey, which was interesting. It also jumps between the past and the present which made for a great glimpse into Lindsey's life with Andrew. It was so fascinating to see how Lindsey was sucked into Andrew's charm and how it quickly changed as time went on. It was easy to tell between the two timelines and voices without any difficulty. I also love that the book was set in Canada! There was the perfect amount of tension and happy times that balanced the story out nicely!

The characters in the book all felt relateable and realistic to me. They were all flawed in some way which made them seem like real people. The actions they all took seemed like things I would do if put into their situations, nothing seemed far fetched or thrown in only to progress the plot line. I really enjoyed how they all developed through out the story as well. I loved the relationship between Sophie and Lindsey! There's also a dog... so like.... you can't go wrong.

I need more Chevy Stevens and I need it now. Highly recommend this one!

Classic psychological thriller. I enjoyed it!
