It was so much like After but so much worse.
The ending seemed so incredibly forced and shoved BPD onto Blu like a bandaid.

warning: this book will make you angry, scream, smile, cry, but most importantly, it will teach you that you need to be kinder to yourself.
this book is gonna stick with me for a really, really long time. this book hit closer to home and my feelings than i thought it was. i truly don’t know how to explain this book. i both loved and hated this book for how i felt during and after.
and i’m not gonna lie, i only got this book because of one quote i saw on tiktok:
“good enough to fuck” i stated, “not good enough to love,” i accepted.
i’m glad i got this book.
“a hue of blu” is about how two people, two broken hearts, two broken souls, can find peace and comfort in pain. but more importantly, it’s about how in order to love another, you need to learn to love yourself first.
watching the development of blu from the beginning of being self destructive to growing up and learning to love herself was soul crushing. it’s something we all need to learn to do.
marie-france léger writes blu and jace in a way that you either hate what they’re doing or you’re so proud that you begin crying yourself. at the beginning i loved jace and how he brought certain aspects out of blu that others didn’t. i was so proud of her for being comfortable around jace and being able to open up to him. and i loved that blu could find comfort in jace. until i didn’t.
throughout the book, both blu and jace began to show their true colors. and i LOVED blu’s. i resonated with her. i started to hate jace. i strongly DISLIKE him now.
i was so proud of blu and the ending. let me rephrase: i was HAPPY with the ending. while this book wasn’t a happy ending in the sense that the two characters ended up together, it was so much better. it ended with blu realizing that the only person who would be there for her and love her, was her. and sometimes it’s okay to realize that all you ever need is yourself
