Both of the Alice books were so enjoyable, I now fully understand the lasting fame and admiration they've endured. The annotation book started off very strong - I didn't know anything about Carroll beforehand (wish it stayed that way), and it was really useful for pointing out Victorian and local references, and what the poems were parodies of. It did fall of for the second book, not as insightful, more rambling than anything; whether because there wasn't as much to talk about I cannot tell. 4.5

Un altro incredibile viaggio mentale di Lewis Carroll. Mi è piaciuto di più il primo, in quanto sono più affezionata ai personaggi, come lo Stregatto e il Coniglio Bianco (e il Cappellaio ma solo quello del film perché ho trovato quello del libro decisamente maleducato e fastidioso).
Comunque, neanche questo libro può dirsi carente di personaggi folli. Più di tutto mi è piaciuta la dinamica della Regina Bianca, della Regina Rossa e di Alice.

Mi è piaciuta tantissimo anche la parte con i fiori parlanti.

La mia ossessione per il mondo di Alice non finirà mai, ormai lo so (è iniziato tutto con la saga di Splintered di A.G. Howard, se cercate un dark retelling. E si è rinnovata la mia adorazione dopo aver visto la serie di Batwoman: Alice è una cattiva complessa e intrigante e l’attrice ha davvero talento.)

Assolutamente geniale, adoro il nonsense! Peccato che molte parti siano intraducibili e si debba ogni volta andare a guardare le note di traduzione interrompendo la lettura... Prima o poi dovrò rileggerlo in lingua originale.

One of my favourite literary fairy tales. I love the magical elements, whimsical chaos, the madness, identity exploration and how Alice is firm in who she wants/doesn't want to be.
