I can't say this is one of Christie's best books, especially coming at the end of her career. It is a very good book though and I had so much fun with this one!

Some things I liked: I really enjoyed the setting of a small town and the mystery surrounding a Halloween party. It gave some fun insight into Halloween at the time (this was published 1969). The characters were interesting and I loved the return of Poirot and Ariadne Oliver.

Something that I...didn't not like but felt woth noting. I solved much of the mystery fairly easily. In this one the foreshadowing is heavy handed. I felt the character of Miranda was a tad unbelievable, especially towards the end of the book, where the plot also became a tad unbelievable.
There also was a chapter that was devoted solely to a side character, the lawyer reminiscing about plot points that would become very relevant. The chapter was boring and I wish those elements had been introduced otherwise.

Favorite quote: "I know there is a proverb which says 'To err is human' but a human error is nothing to what a computer can do if it tries."

The premise of the murder of an annoying little girl caught my attention right away. This is one of Christie’s later works, and I could feel it in the tone, even if the writing style aligns with her other books.
The mystery developed well, and I was hooked as the story unfolded. I enjoyed most of the book more than the resolution; I actually felt a little disappointed with one of the final reveals, which felt too convenient to me.
Overall, I liked the book and would recommend it to fans of Christie and her style. However, if you’ve never read her before, I wouldn’t suggest this as your first book, I don’t think it accurately reflects her earlier novels.
Not one of my favorites, but it was still a very enjoyable read for me
