This was a really sweet marriage of convenience story! I really liked both of the main characters, especially Abel; he seemed like a big softy. The plot was interesting, and I liked the continuation of the plot of the missing mother. My only grip, and this is purely a me thing, is do we have to mention Taylor Swift in every contemporary romance book ever written?? I just feel like it cheapens and dates books. Happy to continue the series :)
Loved this book so much! I adored both Abel and Sloane - it was so easy to root for them and their HEA. Watching Abel open up to Sloane and let her and her kids in was really special. And there were so many cute moments that had me smiling from ear to ear, like Abel and his stress baking for one. What a great read.
I might be slightly obsessed with the King men ❤️❤️. I am seriously loving this series. Abe had some trouble in his past and is the stoic town grump. Sloan is a bubble of lovable joy and a mom who will do anything for her kids. Sloan comes up with the idea of a marriage of convenience to fix both of their problems. However, neither Abe nor Sloan factor. In the fact they both have feelings for one another watching these to mend each other’s and find a family together just melted my heart. Definitely read the series.
YES!
Loved. Loved. Loved. 1000x over. This is my favorite book I’ve read this year next to one other. I fell in love with the characters and their stories. I loved the plot and the spice was perfect. I truly think this was a perfect read. It had drama, feelings, humor and everything else all bundled perfectly together! I wish I could read it for the first time, again. Oh, how I’m sad it’s over! I wish Lena would give me more!!!

What I Loved:
🌟 Abel stress baking while being an emotionally constipated teddy bear
🌟 Every time he said “my wife” like he meant it (spoiler: he did)
🌟 Sloane's sass + strength = literal sunshine
🌟 The twins immediately vibing with Abel (my heart!!!)
🌟 Found family feels—Kings, Sullivans, and some badass Bluebirds
🌟 The “only one bed” and robe scenes—chef’s kiss
Favorite Scene:
The fake honeymoon with all that tension and one bed? ICONIC.
Favorite Moments:
🌟 Tillie calling Abel Dad for the first time
🌟 Abel brewing a custom beer for Sloane
🌟 The Kings + Sullivans showing up to protect Sloane from her ex
🌟 Sloane proposing—literally getting down on one knee
🌟 The wedding shower with the Bluebirds giving Abel his first real sense of belonging
🌟 Every soft Abel POV moment that made me sob
Why It’s 5 Stars:
It’s heartfelt, spicy, protective, and packed with emotional growth—for Abel, for Sloane, and for their make-shift family. Plus Lena’s signature banter and a dash of mystery kept me turning pages like a madwoman.
Final Thoughts:
This book is everything I love about small-town romance: quirky side characters, big emotions, slow-burn tension, and a broody hero who melts into mush for the woman and kids he loves. Just My Luck gave me ALL the feels, and now I’m fully in my King era. Bring on Royal 👑
