He feels so deeply that he shuts himself away and withdraws as much as he can.
And then comes Sloane. His sparky employee with the quick comebacks and a flirty demeanour. She brings him out of his shell and fosters a dormant protectiveness in him. Her fake relationship marriage proposal gives Abel a whole new "my wife" vibe. Seriously this man melted me with every sexy whisper of "my wife" to loudly proclaimed defense of "get your hands off my wife". He gave so many intonations and variations of the phrase. It was delicious.
Just My Luck is a gorgeous single mum/best friends brother/ marriage of convenience interconnected standalone romance. Abel and Sloane fit within the world of Outtatowner and the feuding Kings and Sullivans (I think they might just all be friends at this point). Their love story feels big and emotional and I adored Abel's accountability and growth. A beautifully steamy read.
