You know the book isn't that good when it takes me 4 days to read it.
I liked Abel and seeing he had a crush on Sloane, but I didn't really feel the connection between them and the plot wasn't well developed. They just get married, have sex, and then fall in love (but the sex scenes weren't even that good).
I also didn't like how we don't end up knowing what happened to Sloane's ex and to Abel's mom. It'll probably be resolved in the next book, but I don't think I'll read it.

eARC Review!
I was not expecting this book to become my favorite Lena Hendrix book, I knew I was going to love it but I did not think I would love it as much as I did!! This moved into the #1 spot of favorite books by Lena.
Abel King, you have moved over into the #1 Lena Hendrix men (sorry Duke!) His character development was so good! I loved everything about him. I really enjoyed the dealing with the grief he had experienced and carried with him, because THAT scene was so sweet. And he bakes *fans self*
Sloane! Girly pop! Can we be BFFs??? She was hilarious and definitely a sunshine to Abel’s grumpy. She was not afraid to be herself, and she was such a strong woman when she needed to be. I would give her Mom of The Year.
These two brought out the best in each other and complimented each other’s personalities. I would read 1000 more books about the two of them.
The story was great, and getting glimpses of the Sullivan clan, YES! This books is one that made me stay up later than I should. 1000/10 recommend.

This book takes the ‘my wife’ subtrope and turns it up to 11
Honestly, this book was a tough read for me thanks to where I am in my life right now, but I really needed it!
Abel absolutely stole my heart in this story! I just wanted to wrap him in a hug and show him some love time and time again.
I also wanted to wrap Sloane in a big hug and tell her I get it. That she's done the right thing. That she's a damn good mama.
That she absolutely deserves to be happy, and so does Abel.
I absolutely felt all the feels in this one.
There were moments I laughed, moments my heart was almost beating out of my chest, and moments I sobbed.
Such a good book. Am looking forward to Royal's book next! :)

“I will always protect you. You’re mine. My wife.”
Rating: 5/5
Format: ebook - ARC
Release Date: July 15
This was the easiest 5/5 rating ever. I knew from the start I’d enjoy this one because:
1. It’s written by Lena Hendrix!
2. The tropes are: small town romance, single parent, grumpy x sunshine, and marriage of convenience.
3. And it’s book 2 in The King Family series.
Sloane, the FMC, is a single parent to the cutest twins. And Abel, the MMC, is a beer brewing grump who becomes incredibly protective of his new wife and kids after they strike a deal to marry each other for their own personal gain. Watching these two find comfort in each other and fall for each other was the sweetest thing ever. Sloane and her twins bring light back into his life and Abel becomes their protector.
I didn’t think it was possible for Lena to write a better book boyfriend than Parker (my favorite from her other series) but Abel is officially #1. Abel is the best grumpy, protective, stress baking husband ever. And I love the way he communicates through grunts and sweet softie surprises and shows how he cares.
If that wasn’t convincing enough, here are a few of my favorite quotes:
•“The idea that anyone could take something so damaged—so ruined—and see past the rubble to the beauty at its core was arresting.”
•“My right to happiness—the light in my soul—died on that dark highway, but somehow, you brought me back to life.”
•“You’re my wife. If I get my way, nothing is going to change that.”
I feel so lucky to have been selected for this ARC! Thank you Lena and team for the opportunity.

Lena has blessed me by adding a touch of suspense into the Kings series has filled my small town heart & to make it even better the way Abel was the broody man of my dreams.
One thing I was not expecting while reading Just My Luck was how many times I had to keep my emotions in check and not cry.
I say this every time but I promise reading every single book Lena writes is always going to be worth it. She is my go to author who never lets me down and Just My Luck is proof enough
4.5 stars | 2.5 spice

I just love Abel. He's tough at first glance but he's a big old softie.
