I am slowly making my way through a reread of this series and I am enjoying it! However, this was not one of my favorites. It was quite boring to me. I loved revisiting Narnia again, but this story came across as a little unnecessary. Maybe it’ll make more sense later in the series? We shall see.

4.5 overall storyline is not my favorite of the series but there is one paragraph that is my all time favorite quote of all the books (Shasta and the lion in the valley). I’ve been reading the series to my 7 year old and this one has been the hardest for her to follow because it has a lot of old English speaking parts, and in general is a higher reading level.

Read order #2: To Narnia and the north! I really enjoyed the ending of this story and liked that it is a side story with some fun cameos mixed in. The start/middle felt extra slow to me, so overall 3/5.
