Whenever I read this, I was little. It was my favorite then and remained so when I plowed through the whole series in high school. Most nights, my black cat will curl up at my side in bed. When she curls up at my back, I think of this book. My childhood cat wasn’t a bed cat. She would prefer to stay out all night, and if she couldn’t do that, she’d hunt whatever creepy-crawlies lived in our basement. So I often wondered if it really is so nice to fall asleep with a warm cat at your back. Now I know that it’s true. So soft, but so solid. So warm and friendly, but so undemanding!

Now. This was NOT my favorite book of the series. Never has been. But it’s still a classic for a reason! Beautifully written. Gospel driven. Love it!!
