Good writing, some poignant lines, and the plot had potential, but I didn't enjoy it. The rimance did not appeal to me, some inconsistencies were too big to ignore.
Most of all, I am disappointed by the handling of chronic pain. I was glad ro see a MC with chronic pain, but it is very soon revealed that her illness is caused... By her psychological state. Outright saying this story was inspired by women suffering from chronic pain and then not represent it consistently and having it being just the result of her mind is... appalling. People suffering from chronic pain deserve better than to be told once again that it's "in their head".

I’m still mad at her for a character she killed in a different series.

3.5/5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. The world was amazing and the world building was meticulous and perfect. The characters felt real and fleshed out and the conflict had me on edge the entire book. It was fun and entertaining. At some points it did drag and there were certain sections that I don’t think needed to be as long as they were. However, my biggest complaint is about Akos and Cyra. They were both great characters, however the book switched points of view between chapters and when it did this, it felt as if you were entering a new story. When it was being told from Cyra’s POV, it did not sound anything like Cyra did when it was being told from Amos’s POV. There was a massive disconnect and it was incredibly distracting. Akos did not act the same when it was his chapter versus when it was being told from Cyra’s POV and I couldn’t get past it. Characters should be stable, no matter who is talking about them.

- lite svår att komma in i + många olika namn

This book was good, but it was not really what I expected. I didn't really know what it was about, but I expected it to be good after reading Divergent. I expected it to be more dated, set in historical times rather than this amazing sci-fi world. The characters were very interesting and well rounded. I loved how they weren't perfect, especially Cyra and her struggle with pain. Akos and Cyra complemented each other perfectly, and I didn't feel like their romance was forced or overdone.
