A student was begging me to read this book. She loved it. I can see why. It was a great story about school struggles for both a teacher and the students. I think it had a great message of not giving up on kids, while appreciating their quirky differences. I really liked how the characters developed and evolved. I would recommend this book as well as many others written by Korman.
This book was oddly hilarious. It shows you how a burnt out teacher finds a way inside his class’ hearts. I was literally laughing out loud at some of the outlandish things that they did for their teacher.
Great middle grades book - I was stuck at an appointment and had nothing else to read. So glad this book was stuck there with me!
This was a fun, short middle grade novel about a class of misfits. Their teacher starts out as a has-been star teacher, but transforms as he and his students display their loyalty to one another. The chapters shifted perspective, and I was pleasantly surprised that adult characters will included as POV characters (I wonder how children feel about that?). As you might guess, each "misfit" student turns out to be more than their misbehavior. Everything ended very happily and that is perfect for this genre.
I liked this middle grade book about second chances and starting over. It’s never too late to begin again. I loved the teacher and the students’ growth over the book. I did feel like there were way too many points of view and some of the issues involving education were a bit unbelievable, but overall I liked this book.
The Unteachables is a funny, endearing middle-grade book full of hijinks and memorable characters. It features plenty of relevant themes including STEM connections (the kids work on an automobile), adjusting to a blended family, dealing with a grandparent with dementia, and so much more! This was my first Gordon Korman and I’m excited to read more of his work. If you enjoy audiobooks, I would definitely say: do the audiobook.
