“most stuff is like other stuff. this isn’t like anything else.”
Sometimes you get the rare pleasure of reading something totally novel and unheard of. Just an insane way of writing and of expression that digs at the human condition. Certainly not for everyone, but i think once you realize what she’s doing, it’s hard to deny its grandeur.

Such a cool book. So much respect for Clarice Lispector for what she is attempting to do. reads like free-form flowing jazz or water, solely focused on whatever instant is being written/read at that moment. Doesn’t exactly have structure, although i can’t blame her for that based on the content. The overall themes are pretty clear by the end.

Clarice Lispector is so good at articulating abstract, ephemeral human experiences (and sometimes articulating why the act of trying to put things like that into words weakens them), reading this was-- I don't even know. An /Experience,/ if you catch my drift lol. Sometimes pensive, sometimes hopeful, sometimes rambling, definitely not for everyone, but I'd encourage anyone who's curious to give it a try. It's such beautiful writing that I know is going to stick with me for awhile

every sentence was beautiful and i loved the vibe/the headspace the book put me in while reading. i took off a half point because i quite honestly did not understand what i was reading. but the language was beautiful. if it was any longer i might not have liked it as much.
