Pretty much holds up to the first one without being repetitive. The structure of the story was a little unbalanced though since the latter half was far more eventful.

honestly I enjoyed this less than the first book. I never realized how much of this is very similar to happy potter lol. I don’t like the way action scenes are written in this series. all suspense is ruined in what I assume is an attempt to make it easy for a young audience. the characters are all really good tho and I’m interested in the main plot I just did not really care about the journey they went on during this.

I love this one so much oh my gosh!
I genuinely do not understand why this is the lowest rated Percy Jackson book because we get so many gems like Tyson and Grover in a wedding dress and Clarisse???
This book is stunning. The plot is so good and we follow the established quest narrative from book one. However this book is also filled with rich character backstory and emotional content that just made me feel all if the feels!
In this book we also met Tyson, who is one of my favourite characters in this series hands down because he’s so kind and sweet and just an amazing character!
Along with Tyson, we get the exploration of themes of prejudice and it’s a really great conversation to have in a kids book!
We also get to see more of Clarisse, who is such a complex character and it’s always great to see more from!
Finally, this book is FUN! The gang go on some great adventures and, although there’s serious impending doom, it’s a fun time and really fun to read? I love this book!
