I little dark for my taste. Specifically a very gruesome act that made me almost dnf this book. But I stuck it out to find out what happened in the end. I just can’t get past a certain very detailed horrific act, to enjoy and say that I loved it. Definitely suspenseful and kept my interest peeked. But some descriptions were a little too dark and graphic in my opinion.

Sara Linton, the county coroner, happens upon the body of Sybil Adams who was horrifically raped and mutilated. The investigation is headed by Jeffery Tolliver, police chief and Sara's ex-husband. Soon after the investigation starts, another victim turns up and that leads them to believe that a sexual predator is on the prowl in their county. As the deviant's MO becomes evident, Sara begins to see a possible connection to her past.
I read this book right after I finished Karin Slaughter's Pretty Girls. This book was just as thrilling and violent. Maybe not as much, but close. I had an inkling of who the creep was soon after he was introduced. I am not telling how I know. His motivations remained a mystery though. But as soon as that was revealed, the novel ended. That is the one thing that I didn’t like. The motivation, and catching the bad guy and saving his victim, it was all jammed into one chapter (Unlike Pretty Girls).
But apart from that, it was quite the page-turner. Highly recommended.
