This was alright! Typical serial killer book where you age constantly trying to guess who the baddy is!
Though I find most of her books predictable, this one was painfully obvious. I knew who the rapist/killer was almost the moment the character was introduced.
Also, even though I know her books are graphic, there were some extremely upsetting descriptions of rape that I had a hard time getting through.
I didn’t really understand the killer’s motivation and his obsession just didn’t feel believable. I don’t think it was explained that well.
I think this was Slaughter’s first book and definitely feel she’s improved since.

Very, very good thriller. Fast paced, flawed but likable characters and a twisty mystery. What more do you need??
Wow Karin Slaughter has some problems, has anyone actually asked her if she’s okay????
I mean it was good in the sense that I wanted to gauge out my eyeballs and roll around on the ground while a truck repeatedly drives over me

Karin Slaughter is like comfort food to me. Her books tempt me as I scan the shelves looking for something... healthier, for lack of a better word. I often give in and feed that craving I sometimes feel.
I read my first Karin Slaughter book in March of this year. Blindsighted is the fourth book I’ve read by her, and I thought it was time to try one of her series as well as her first novel.
Slaughter is known for her gruesome details, but I thought her debut would be a little more tame. Boy was I wrong.
Even when I’d figured out the mystery I was compelled to read until I finished it. Her books are really fun, and part of that are the strong female leads she writes in the books I’ve read. Her character development is always on point, too, which is something I love in a book.

My lord, Karin Slaughter certainly doesn't pull her punches. This is a dark and grim novel dealing with some of the most horrific acts of individuals upon another. She has no compunction about dealing the gruesome scenes with all of the blood and gore described; you get autopsy descriptions, death scene depictions and torture depictions. If you are faint hearted about such things then Karin Slaughter is perhaps not an author for you. There's also the disturbing aspects that come from the very nature of sexual violence.
The novel does contain a strong and tightly written narrative that keeps you focussed and never giving up on the tension of events. The light romantic narratives are well done throughout, never overriding the main events but giving a much needed small amount of light relief. I have read these books in completely the wrong order, having read Kisscut first, the final book in the series next and then this first instalment now. It's a testament to Karin Slaughter's writing that even though I knew some of what was going to occur in advance, I was still utterly hooked and didn't see the ending coming at all. Parts of it definitely made me uncomfortable, but I'd be wondering about my level of psychopath(ism) if they didn't.
If you like your crime thrillers tense, real and damn brutal then this series may well be for you. I certainly need to be in the right frame of mind to read this kind of novel, but Karin Slaughter is excellent in the field.

Maybe I'm too sensitive but there was a part of this book that I just can't unsee. Or unread? It bothered me so much. The plot was good, I felt it rambled a bit in the middle, but came together nicely at the end.
