Definitely check trigger warnings for this book, because it is really graphic, not just in the actual acts described, but in depicting the aftermath that victims have to deal with. It can be upsetting at times, but I couldn't put it down. This is the first Karin Slaughter book I read, and I had high expectations given how so many in the horror/thriller book communities talk her up, and I was not disappointed. I only don't give it 5 stars because the graphic nature of the book did trigger me at times, so that interfered with my personal enjoyment of the book in some places. Aside from that, I liked the characters, and the mystery was very rich and intriguing. It just sucks you right in. I'm currently continuing the series, and it just gets better and better.
