The previous book through Zoe's perspective. I really enjoyed the extra bits, werewolves and Obin. But it was a slower read as I knew what was going to happen.

This book really is a retelling of the prior book in the Old Man's War series "The Lost Colony" the primary difference is that it is told through one characters’ eye's that being Zoe. It was great to go back to a story that you were familiar with but with a complete change of perspective. Also the story and format gave John Scalzi a chance to fill in some plot holes that made contributed to a better understanding of the Old Man's War Universe.

Looking forward to reading the next book in the series The Human Division later this year.

I'm still so mad about the deaths that I forgot would impact me the way they did - everything else was exactly what I was looking for, even if the teens were a level of witty that fought really hard against my suspension of disbelief (I remember that age, I wish I could have been even half so witty!)
