I'm glad I got to read Stephen King's first novel - he has always been a master storyteller! Reading Carrie made me feel a bit disturbed (especially at the weird fanatic mom), repulsed, and sad for Carrie White. She was sort of a victim of circumstances, the telekinesis was a gift more than anything. The ending was so dark, but honestly, I was feeling my deepest sympathy for Carrie having to go through so much humiliation. School can be a lousy place.

My second Stephen King book and again, I didn't like it. I'm thinking MAYBE Stephen King isn't for me? I liked Carrie's story enough, it wasn't a bad story but I just hated the way it was written. I hated being interrupted by articles, it took me out of the story. I just ended up really not caring about what happens.

Great story I really enjoyed this when I read it in my late teens and I really related to Carrie.

Picked up a re-print of Carrie for the 50th Anniversary!

I've read a fair amount of Stephen King books over the years, but Carrie is one that seemed to slip past me. It felt a little clunky in places, and there were a few moments that made me question whether, if I hadn't seen the film, I'd have had a good grasp of what was going on, but for a debut novel...pretty damn good!

It was an emotional read, and I loved that the story was told alongside extracts from memoirs, official records etc; they wrapped well together and added that extra something to the book.

A solid book that left me questioning who the real 'monster' was and well worth a read for King fans.

50th Anniversary audiobook narrated by Sissy Spacek (!!) was riveting. The story, though showing it’s age, has lost none of its power. Being firmly rooted in a particular place and time helps it overcome aspects that otherwise could seem dated.

Marvelous! It made me cry. Poor Carrie--I relate to her so much! And what a surprising little ending... :)

I had so many feelings reading this book. I always loved Carrie deeply and this book really got to me.

Anyway, first book I read by Stephen King and first book finished in 2021, yay!

Thanks mom for buying me this copy of Carrie last Christmas! It's now sitting in my favourites shelf. :D
