If you come softly made me cry so much! This book is not that long, but you really get invested in the characters and their relationship. I do believe that this book is going to be a standout novel in my life, i am always going to remember it, will definitely re-read and recommend to others.

I should start by saying that I'm not a fan of the insta-love trope. This story was beautifully written, but I didn't buy into the depth of their relationship so quickly. I was hoping for more character development when the story just ended abruptly. Sadly, it ended too soon, before I really grew to care too much for the characters or really into their relationship. I obviously see and agree with the author's point, but wanted this book to be more powerful than it was. 3 stars

Een verhaal over werelden die verschillen en overeenkomen, over huidskleur en racisme, over bijzondere en soms moeilijke gezinssituaties, over je thuis voelen bij iemand, over geluk, vooroordelen en onbegrip. Vol mooie dialogen, levensechte personages, krachtige voorbeelden en een einde dat je niet onberoerd achterlaat. Ga het lezen!

This book was good. No. AMAZING! This book is also so important. I’m promoting it everywhere I can. It’s a beautiful story, has diversity and is about first love. With less than 200 pages you’ll read it in one sitting. The newest edition has a beautiful cover, so I can only say: add it to your bookshelf! I loved every page. And the ending. Oh my the ending. I’m so glad there is a second book (don’t look it up before you’ve read this one!). 10/10
Dit boek was goed. Nee. GEWELDIG! Dit boek is zo belangrijk. Het is een boek vol diversiteit met een prachtig verhaal over ‘first love’. Met minder dan 200 pagina’s kan je het in één keer meteen uitlezen. De cover is ook echt prachtig! Ik kan alleen maar zeggen: koop en lees het boek en geef het een mooi plekje in je boekenkast! Ik hield van elke pagina en het einde… oh my, het einde. 10/10

The execution of this book is immaculate. I don’t have a lot of YA reads that are 5 stars but this goes beyond the mark. It is challenging in the best ways. It gets you comfy with the characters and then RIPS your heart out immediately. Gut-wrenching. I loved every minute of this read!!

This is a story of first love and the things that stand in its way. A contemporary Romeo and Juliet, the book is a quick and easy young adult fare. It is lyrical and poignant. And sadly, though written over twenty years ago, this novel remains very relevant today.
