I loved Dreadful so I was super excited to see this next offering from Caitlin Rozakis, and she did not disappoint. This was a funny, sweet, and at times hard read. As a mom this spoke to some of those deep fears I have about my own son as he gets older, but the message by the end of the book was a hopeful one. I highly enjoyed this book and can't wait for whatever she writes next!

Pros: labeled as Gilmore Girls meets HP...and yeah, it's cozy vibes with a magic school. Interesting family and school dynamics for mythological and fantastical beings. Cute Kindergarten wolf pup.

A fun take on the magical school genre - from the perspective of the parents. A fantastical lens to view school-gate politics, marriage, family life and friendship, as well as subverting the chosen one and prophecy tropes of so much teen fantasy. I think I noticed hints of Buffy and Terry Pratchett among the influences.
