I wanted to love this - a fantasy primary school setting sounded absolutely wonderful, and it was, but I completely couldn't get behind the characters. I will say, I am not a parent, so maybe I was just lacking that resonance, but everyone including the main POV character were just awful for like the first 70% of this book and I didn't really want to read about people being jerks. Also, just not a book that feels like it's going to age well - a lot of pop culture references like "she who must not be named", Instagram, etc.
