Meg is trying to solve the mystery of the baby left in the manger. Once again Donna Andrews brings us a wonderful animal themed mystery.
Meg Langslow is once again embroiled in a Christmas mystery. This time, she is in charge of the Christmas pageant when a second baby Jesus shows up. But this one is a girl and the note that was left with the baby points at Meg's brother Rob as being her dad.
This is bad because Rob was planning on proposing to his girlfriend and, with a rash of past girlfriends popping up, Delaney doesn't seem like she's going to accept any time soon.
All of this is tied into a murder in nearby Clay County (often the bad guys in this series) and it will take Meg to tie it all together.

A cute Christmas story in desperate need of an editor.
Another enjoyable romp with the Langslow family. A baby is abandoned in Jesus cradle during a rehearsal of the Christmas pageant and Meg’s brother Rob is named as the father. Meanwhile, a man is accused of murders in the neighbouring county. Mayhem, investigation and Meg’s superior problem solving, investigating and organisational skills come to the fore. Great fun.
This was great! Meg is organizing the children's Xmas church play when she discovers someone left a baby in the manger. The note suggests it's Rob's but he denies all knowledge, though his girlfriend doubts him. The missing baby soon ties to some shady dealing going on in nearby Clay County. Rumors of booze, weed and corrupt feds soon surface.
Cars are towed, the women's shelter is invaded, people go missing and turn up arrested in Clay County. Meanwhile all of Meg's relatives are about to descend on her for the holidays. Can she bring everyone home for the holidays?
Her plan is awesome, though I really can't see how they managed to make that happen without men tagging along to 'make sure you are safe', no matter what lies they told them.
This was really funny & really entertaining. Overall awesome story.

For me this was the strongest of the last several books. Completely enjoyable!
I really enjoyed this story, so much so that I am going to check out this series. Seems like it might keep me busy a while since I think this was book 23? :)
