4.5-5/5⭐️ I didn’t think I was going to love a book by Abby Jimenez more than Just For The Summer, but here we are. This book has so many things that speak to my heart - dementia, long distance relationships, animals. It read like a romcom, especially the banter in the dialogue. The only thing that gave me the ick was
when the two main characters cuddles in a hospital bed (but that’s a personal thing)
so I had to dock it just a bit. Otherwise flawless with no notes!!

- Way too many ACOTAR references for my liking. I know the book is popular but felt odd for how much it kept being brought up
- Very cute but sad story. Prepare yourself to cry
- I loved the family storyline with Sam so much that I was wishing we were diving deeper into that then focusing on the relationship between Xavier and Sam at some points.
- The relationship felt very repetitive at times, and it didn’t feel like they knew each other that well despite this big connection they felt. I’m not usually a huge fan of insta-love but it worked here

I say it every time, but this is the best Abby book yet. I love love loved it. The love story - great. The sibling relationships - so real. The mustard marketing - hysterical (reminiscent of the Dunkin spider donut). The MCs family stories - heart wrenching / Samantha’s is beautiful. I was so happy/sad reading this in the best way. I got it from the library and ready the whole thing on release day, but I am walking directly to the bookstore to buy it so I can read it forever.

I saw too much negative chatter about the book before it was released and got in my head about it for the first few chapters. But I absolutely LOVE Abby’s ability to combine difficult circumstances with an adorable meet cute and swoony MMC and still have you laughing despite the underlying heavy topics.

Each of Abby’s books tackles a difficult topic and this one tackles dementia. While everyone’s experience with dementia may not be exactly the same, Abby’s writing absolutely reflects several common day-to-day challenges of a person with dementia and of the people caring for that person. I also appreciated how she described long distance relationships and all the nuances of successfully maintaining one.

I also LOVED all the little Easter eggs in this book that were nods to her other books! And chapter 34 had me laughing so hard I woke my husband up! I cannot WAIT to read Abby’s next book about Chris, the pharmacist because no one ever writes about pharmacists!!

I love Abby Jimenez but this was a miss for me. It felt like the plot started 6 chapters in. I was confused, like I was missing pages.

I understand the nature of the relationship and meat of the story was meant for time to pass but it was so quick it was unenjoyable.
