I loved Mrs. Dalloway and found The Hours to be a great homage to it. If you haven't read Mrs. Dalloway, I think you can still enjoy this book, but some of the significance might be lost. If you're in the mood for delving deep into characters' multilayered internal lives, this is a perfect choice.

Ow....threw me off my track, this one. That attempt at putting a finger on those moments, those hours-always the hours-perfect little hours that you miss even while they last, and you think, why oh why can't I make all of my moments like this and why oh why can't it be enough...

It was a pleasure to read this homage to Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway. It was a beautiful and true reworking of the original text. Considering Mrs. Dalloway to be one of my favorite books, I might be biased here. I do think that half the enjoyment I took from this book was due to my understanding of its source material. If you haven't read or didn't enjoy Mrs. Dalloway, this might not be the book for you.

Masterful structuring and weaving of timelines, themes and mood. I watched the film too and love how it echoed so well the flow and language of this book. And again I ache for all of those bright fires whose early suffering wounds them and deprives the world of genius. If Virginia Woolf had not suffered so many losses when she was young (her mother, father, sister/surrogate parent) how many more words would the world have?

I enjoyed this read, every perspective gave you a glimpse at a life but not enough for the reader. I felt like I needed a whole novel on each main character, I was left wanting more which I think was the point of the author. He made the characters elusive just life Virginia Woolf herself. The writing style changed between characters to suit them best which I thought very well done. I appreciated the ending although a bit cliché.

Told the story of my life in an insane way nothing else ever has. Recommend this to literally anybody and everybody if you’re feeling lost, if you know where you are in life or anywhere in between

The book was slow and nothing really happened, but it was beautifully written.
