The end is great but it gets there so quick that it's hard to get attached to the characters for me.  Especially in such a grim scenery where

death feels inevitable.

Cormac takes you into the mood and feel of this world very well. The tension of pure survival is palpable. Hopeless and depressing landscape, but I love after-the -fall sci-fi, so I don't mind. Sweet father/son love story. Great book.
