I absolutely adored Vienne and Austen! When Austen moved next door to Vienne, he knew it’s only temporary. He has plans to renovate the old house and use the money to invest in a business with some of his retired military friends. What he doesn’t expect is to form a fun, flirty, deep connection with his single mom neighbor. He enlists her help to renovate his old house, and at first, she says no. She finds him extremely attractive and nice and doesn’t want rumors spreading around town about what she’s doing because that will affect her daughter. She reluctantly agrees to help Austen because she needs the money for her daughter’s volleyball expenses. They work so well together, and Vienne is excited to get her hands dirty and to learn to things about renovating. They both find it easy to talk to one another while they enjoy late night beers on the back deck and, somewhere along the way, realize they were both in deeper than they wanted to admit. Vienne is boycotting relationships, and Austen is still leaving at the end of summer. When they can’t take the tension anymore, they start to have some intimate fun. The deeper the relationship gets; the more scared Vienne is. She tries to play it off like she’s not in as far as she is, but that backfires on her. Austen tries to explain his feelings, shooting his shot, and Vienne closes herself off. What is meant to be always finds its way, and Austen and Vienne have to go through some troubles before their happy ending. I thought that Austen was so genuine and did and said things with intention. He was so nice and said all the right things, and that confused Vienne because no one had ever treated her the way Austen did. She was always waiting for the other shoe to drop and not living her life how she wanted. She was such a great mom and did everything for her daughter, Catherine, and once Vienne realized she needed to take care of herself and do things for herself, she finally lived in the moment. I’m just loving this whole series and this family!

I love the Knight family books...and the boys get more dreamy as the series goes along. Pity there is only one left and no doubt Elliott's book will be amazing.
Austen moves next door to Vienne, a single mum. His plan, since retiring from the army, is to do up his house and move to California to work in a security company with some buddies. I love Austen! His sincerity and commitment is gorgeous but he doesn't believe, after his ridiculous parents, that he is relationship material. I really felt for him with the way his family acted toward him, both as a child and an adult. Vienne was a little annoying, in how she doubted both herself (thanks Dave the douchebag) and Austen...but she finally gets it! Highly recommend this series.

I enjoyed this story because best friend brother trope is a favorite of mine. But also because of this family. This is the fourth book in the series and I wondered how Austen would come back into the fold. It seemed once the mixing started he blended right back in. Getting over childhood hangups is always tough as an adult. Luckily for him he has Vienne as a next door neighbor. She has her own hangups and as their relationship evolves they are able to help the other smooth some of the bumps they encountered along the way.
It is wonderful to see the family get so involved and how friendly they are to others. I liked the “girl time” as much as the boys hanging out together.
Overall this is a great story with some scenes in her I did not expect. The story flows along nicely and focuses mostly on the two MC and not too much outside strife. The only thing I did not like was his nickname for her. It just didn’t roll off the tongue and sounded weird. There is only one Knight left unattached. I look forward to his story.
Another great addition to the Oil Knights series. I am finding I like the seasoned or later in life characters. It brings some realism to the romance world. Second chances are one of my favorite tropes, and Austen and Vienne deserve theirs.
Austin has returned home, but rather than the family ranch, he chooses a project in a old farmhouse. Vienne is a local, has been the topic of local gossip over the years, but now is doing her best to raiser her daughter and build her design business. While Austine and V make a great team in the renovation of his farmhouse, with they cross the line? The development of their friendship is slow, and Austin is what we all want in our partner: a patient person and a good listener.
Austin and Vienne have a great story; broken hearts are healed, and family ties are strengthened.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Dena’s Thoughts:
This is a continuation of the Oil Knights series. I haven’t read any of the others but these can all be read as standalones. This book follows Austen (after Jane Austen 😍) who just retired from the military and Vienne a single mom with a teenage daughter.
There is something to say about your standard hallmark book. Yes, it’s predictable but to me that dependable. I never tired of the standard romance outline because I know what I’ll get when I pick it up. I really enjoyed this story. The characters were wonderful including all the supporting (except her ex). I would definitely go and read the rest of this series

This the fourth book in the Oil Knight series, for third brother Austen, who has retired from the military and is home for a while as he prepares for his next stage of life.
This story was sweet and yet oh so saucy. Your heart ached for both Austin and Vienne, a forgotten brother and an overworked mum. Austen had been gone so long, no one was used to him being around and so was often overlooked, and so felt out of place in his own family. Vienne was never forgotten, she was responsible for everything, and still being reminded of every mistake from childhood onwards.
I think that is why they were a perfect match, complimenting each other and not lacking in sizzle. However, the greatest joy was how Austin encouraged her to be authentic - the woman that she always was, and to apologise to no one for just being herself.
Yet another wonderful read, which left me desperately wanting the final story for Elliot, the only remaining single brother and the only brother not in Crocus Valley (he seems so alone on the ranch… he needs a love to cherish him too)!!

The way I love Austen Knight…that man. The way he’s so sweet and constantly built Vienne up? Swoon. Austen & Vienne make such a good team in so many ways, and I loved watching Vienne grow more comfortable with herself. And can we talk about how hot these two are together?! Because how my kindle didn’t melt, I’ll never know. I mean nightly peep shows? I’m sweating! I loved getting the see the rest of the Knight gang too, and I cannot wait for Eliot’s book!
this was a cute read. it grabbed my attention when it said it was neighbors to lovers. i met my husband when he bought the house next door to me. i did struggle a little bit with the story with it being the 4th book in the series. which that normally isn't an issue for me. but it didn't take away from the story. i did enjoy the single mom, vienne being to a teenager and not a baby/toddler. and her daughter, catherine able to kind of do her own thing. i really liked austen, he was such a sweetheart and loved his relationships with his siblings and how they were all working on making them better since he retired from the military after 20 years. i'll have to go back and read the other books now and i can't wait for eliot's book. marriage of convenience is my jam. thank you marie johnston and the author agency for gifting me with an advanced copy.

Vienne & Austen were such a great couple! I loved that they were in their late 30s and weren't looking for love. Vienne definitely had sworn off love because she didn't feel as if she needed it. She had Catherine, and she felt as if she had kissed enough frogs 🐸 . Why would she need to kiss anymore?
Austen has been a bachelor for the last two decades and he wasn't going to put down roots in this small town part of his family called home. He had plans to be here, flip this house and move to LA to build his security business with his fellow soldier buddies.
I loved that these two had plans, but those plans didn't include what their future had planned for them!
I loved Vienne and her spirit! She wasn't willing to put her business on the line. She was such a fierce mama bear when it came to her daughter Catherine! She had the the unfortunate luck of crappy men in her past, but hit the jackpot when it came to Austen!
Austen moved back to flip his house but what he didn't plan on was movie next to Honey V. He got more than he ever bargained for, when she needed help that morning. He had been a bachelor for the last two decades and had been handed the sweetest honey 🍯 he would ever need!
I really enjoyed how these two respected each others boundaries, but also wanted to see where each other wanted to take things. They were attracted to each other in all the important ways and made it known by enjoying each other in unconventional ways.
I loved that Austen stood up for Vienne in ways that said that she deserved to be stood up for against other men. I also loved that he always included Catherine in everything they did. He treated her as his own.
I was so glad to see how this ended. I think they deserved to have the utmost happiness in the end!!

Vienne, the female interior designer lead, remembers being a brash, bold, enthusiastic teen, but life has worn her down somewhat and she’s a far more risk-averse single mum. Whilst she has a huge crush on her next-door neighbour/best friends’ brother, she knows it’s not worth risking their relationship on a short term thing when he’s already got his exit planned.
Austen, the male lead, retired from the military and he’s currently renovating a house before moving interstate to be part of the core group starting up a security business. He’s always been single and has no plans to change that, until he and Vienne start working together and he finds himself wondering why he’s no longer so enthusiastic about leaving. But Vienne also stated she didn’t want more than short term, out of concern for the impact on her daughter…
This story is dual POV, really well written, well edited, and a beautiful contemporary, small town romance. The focus here is really on character development and the way the lead characters grew as individuals and then into a relationship. I adored how supportive Austen was of Vienne, encouraging her to emerge from the shell she’d hidden herself in, due to repeated disappointments from previous partners. I enjoyed Austen’s realisation of how he could also change and his childhood baggage didn’t need to influence all his future choices. I enjoyed the way they worked together on the renovation. I laughed at some of the hilariously awkward moments. I also enjoyed their steamy intimate moments that were sensual and erotic. I appreciated the way Vienne’s daughter was integral to the story, and the thought that went into what sort of role model Vienne was trying to be for her.
