I liked the book but sometimes it really felt like if it were any slower, I would have given up. I haven't read a mystery in a while, and I liked the characters and their relationships, and French's style of writing.

Typically I like it when books don't end all wrapped up neatly with a little bow, but I felt like I wanted a little bit more closure here. Yes, they caught the murderer but other than that there was just too much left open for me.

3.75⭐️So torn with this one. I thought the writing was great and the twist was okay but what about the creepy creature in the woods they kept alluding to??? I was so ready for there to be some mad creature or supernatural element woven into the story. Why include it at all? Maybe it’s the pooka after all but I wanted this book to be more creepy than it was.
