Christian romance with spice!!

Thank you for writing a book that doesn't demonize premarital sex

Listen....... I did this to myself. To be honest, I'd seen this book on tiktok numerous times. And like a month ago I even took it out on KU. But then I returned it. I should have just continued in my life, but I saw like 5 about this book this past weekend. And here we are..... it's my own fault.

As someone who grew up Catholic, attended Catholic school (all 12 years), did youth groups, and sang at choir, I thought I would be perfect to read this. I definitey don't have the same beliefs as I did when I was younger, but I forgot there's Catholics.... and then there's.... Christians. Whole different thing.

This book was just meh. I think it would be an interesting book, maybe. But this was not it. I kept seeing that it was kinky and spicy, but it was just not. The FMC gave me second hand embarrassment the entire time. Both MCs were bleh and were not even enjoyable to read. The friend was a little too pushy. The scene where she got drunk was not good, and her friend gave me red flags. You can let your friend let loose, but it doesn't matter how much she wants to get drunk, you still should be a voice of reason and NOT let a first time drinker take 3-4 shots in under 10 mins!!!! WTF and then she just left her basically. It rubbed me the wrong way.

This was just a waste of time book, that I did not enjoy in any way. Also, the parents divorce with the cheating left way too many questions and I could have just not read it and it wouldn't have changed anything.

I don't know much about the purity culture, but I enjoyed this book. Cole is all over the place. He'll sleep with anyone and doesn't express his feelings to Livvy. She wants to break out of what she was brought up to be leaving is you should save yourself for marriage. She wants to explore a list of things that "normal" college kids do. But she wants to stay in a safe zone and drag Cole along with her. Definitely 18+.

It was okay, I guess, I can’t complain about the romantic tension—but, if I had to read a sentence that starts with “Goodness,…” one more time, I think I would have thrown my kindle against a wall.

So, I read this book. It was fine. I related a lot to the purity culture struggle and things I felt when I had these issues with my own faith. I liked the path to her relationship with Jesus. That was all well and good.

I didn’t really like the heroine in relation to the hero though. Number 1- she said she wanted to get over cole, but then proceeds to do the opposite throughout the book. She is pursuing him. And I love a girl who goes after what she wants but, she just said she wanted to move on from him at first.
Number 2- he tells her no at first and she guilt trips him about it since he’s “slept with lots of other girls before.” I’m a big believer of “no” is a full sentence. He asked for time and she didn’t really give it at first until he was like okay at least give me three days.
Number 3- when she did finally confess her feelings, she expected him to immediately get over the shock of finding out his best friend who he’s also been in love with to just immediately be like OMG I LOVE YOU TOO! Let me tell you, if one of my friends said I love you and I’ve been in love with you our whole friendship I’d need time to process.
Number 4- I feel like the last 15% of the book she was literally just punishing him. For no reason.
But, outside of their relationship, I related to her relationship with her parents, not wanting to disappoint them, having her best friend to hype her up and bring her out of her shell. All those things and it was great. I loved that, I just felt like maybe her and cole I don’t know honestly.
