I love this book for letting young Muslim children seeing themselves represented. But also because I think regardless of culture, many children go through a period of wanting to wear something of their parents. So seeing this can also help non-Muslim children see how similar we are. Which is an important thing for all of us to understand, and starting that nurturing of that early is important.
Even more than that, it’s just such a sweet story following a little girl and feeling her love for her mother.

Very sweet story about a girl with a big imagination who idolizes her mommy. I found it very sweet the things she could become when wearing her mom's khimar. The illustrations were beautiful. Lovely.

Beautiful and needed representation. I think this one is a beautiful way to represent Muslim women and girls and imaginative play and tolerance.

5 stars! 5,000 stars! A book hasn't made me this happy in a long time. Such an important message of diversity and inlcusivity (her Christian grandmother!) without bashing readers over the head. And a protagonist with so much imagination. Reminded me of being a child, which is what children's books should do for adults.
