in the book, ferius encounters the “red scream” which a plague that can be caught when hearing a series of words. as always, the author is able to come with unique magic types that are great to read about. halfway through the book, i started to caught on the phrases used to activate the plague, and i had so much anticipation whenever someone (especially allies) started saying it.

i like the way they showed different languages! the part about the language monks was so good. i love to see books that talk about the power of languages and accents. it was so cool to read how the way they phrased their words themselves made her crumble and reveal her secrets. also the way she couldn’t conceal her body reactions to some words was really well done. also, i appreciated that she learned a way to communicate with the deaf kid that she found and tried to help him find his home.

i like the way it introduced another well beloved character from the previous series - rosie. her connection with ferius was fun. it was super interesting to see how they moved between the lines of enemies (not trusting each other, but staying together because they hoped the other would spill something) and slowly realizing they make a good team.

the book ripped me apart - easily the most horrible book in the series. putting two people who cared about each other so much on opposite sides of the war, and forcing them to sacrifice each other to survive is awful. the last 10% of the book was insane. seeing her go through the blood trail was gut wrenching and i’m not sure how the author was able to portray such feelings in a book. his writing style is funny and flows extremely well, so i’m impressed that he was able to include such variety in scenes.

i was stressed towards the end; there was no way the ferius would be able to survive what’s about to come, and i really like the way the author ties it all together.

this is easily my favorite book series of all time :) each book has a cool set of characters, interesting premise, and a great execution!

this quote is so good:
״אני לא יודעת הרבה על עימותים בין עמים דגולים או מלחמות שניטשות הין צבאות דגולים הניצבים זה מול זה, אבל דבר אחד אני יודעת: אין קרב עז כמו זה שמתנהל בין אם לבת.

An improvement on way of the Argosi as it was a more fun and engaging story, even with some rather gruesome bits. All in all a nice way to wrap up this series.

I loved the Way of The Argosi that made discover this series and loved the Fall of the Argosi.
It's a compelling, gripping and highly entertaining fantasy novel and I couldn't stop reading.
There's a lot of action and humour, great characters and an interesting world building.
It's an excellent story that I strongly recommend.
Highly recommended.
