I cannot get enough of this universe! This companion story to the Tarot Sequence helps build out the fantastical world of New Atlantis and the characters that call it home. Quinn, Max, and Anna are so much fun as characters and it was refreshing to view the events of <i>The Hourglass Throne</i> from their perspective. I absolutely love the dynamic of Quinn and Max and how they try to emulate Rune and Brand. And Anna is a wonderful character that understands so much for her young age but still remains a child at heart. The story of <i>The Eidolon</i> allows us to see the world of The Revelry and how many people of New Atlantis are really just trying to fit in and survive in this hierarchical society. I appreciated getting to know more about Lady Time as well, more of her backstory, her motivations, and what makes her tick. This first installment set up more intrigue and excitement for the series to grow along the Tarot Sequence and I cannot wait to see where it goes!

I would end the review with that because holy shit Quinn broke my heart in this book. The Eidolon was as much of an emotional roller-coaster as The Tarot Sequence has been, and it did not disappoint in any manner at all. The relationships between Quinn, Max and Anna, the little bits of the RuneBrandAddam trio we get, the inner thoughts of the children - I loved everything. I would die for these kids.
... That reveal tho.

Overall I enjoyed the book. It is a nice addition to the tarrot sequence books. That being said, I don't think it stands on its own. I liked getting more time with Max and Quinn, but there was little intrigue or development. I also felt that the ending with Anna and The Fool was quite rushed. It was fun, but not the best book in the tarrotverse.
The Eidolon follows Quinn, Max, and Anna during the events of the [b:The Hourglass Throne|59365449|The Hourglass Throne (The Tarot Sequence, #3)|K.D. So only pick this up after you've read the first trilogy in The Tarot Sequence.

Which is what New Atlantis is as well, but here it's twisted and fitted together in ways it shouldn't. Brilliant execution by K.D. Edwards!
