I really wanted to like this. But it was tough. After going through the previous books pretty quickly, this book I put down multiple times before finally forcing myself to finish it. I think the problem is there is very little Geralt and a lot of story telling from Ciri. It ended strong and made me want to continue into book five eventually but not right away.

I slogged through this, taking about 7 weeks. The essence of the interesting Witcher/Ciri story is here, but the split timelines, flashbacks, multi-viewpoints and large cast of characters make it difficult to hold forward momentum - it reads as a messy history as opposed to exciting story, which is not what I'm looking for.

Given my new rate of reading books, this one took a good few weeks, which speaks to lack of interest as much as life's distractions.

Time for a break from Witcher, although my completionist instincts may win out.

W zasadzie ** i 1/2*. Zmęczył się nam autor. Coraz częściej bawi się formą, ale albo bez przekonania, albo bez specjalnego talentu. Historia nadal niesie, dialogi nadal się skrzą (ale coraz rzadziej). Zmęczenie autora miejscami udziela się czytelnikowi.
Ale najgorsze jeszcze przed nami
