2.5 stars. Just not enjoying these as much as the first few books. Only 2 more to go so I will be finishing up the series.

I liked this one much more than the previous ones. I was happy for Ciri to be freed from the Rats even if it means through their demise for what they made her do and become, I'm still shocked with that last scene of book 4.
There were some scenes that I liked and were fun. Jaskier and Geralt's always made me laugh add to this the new members to Geralt's crew. Yennefer telling Triss that she will pay for Geralt that was fun too in addition to other moments in the story.

It was interesting how the author under the veil of fantasy chose to handle the subject of child trafficking and slavery with Ciri and Angouleme in this book. That was the most difficult part of the story that I had to read but I hope that a lot of author will do the same in their books even if it is fantasy for it is a really important topic.

I was a bit sad for Geralt and his decision as a Witcher. Now, what is going to happen to him and to Yen if she is still alive?

Book 6 of 8 in and I’m still really enjoying this series. This book definitely picked back up after Baptism of Fire, which I found to be a bit slow.

The book continues the tale of Geralt & his company tracking down Ciri, Ciri leaves the Rats to return to her destiny & his chased by many foes, & Yennefer is back to getting involved in the story. It also continues to use political interludes, which always take you out of the action, but provides extra background to the vastly detailed world that Sapkowski has created.

I can’t wait to finish off the series over the next few weeks!
