I read this over and the course of three days. It was so engaging. The setting was beautiful. It was funny. My jaw was on the floor the entire time. The writing was extremely cringey. I hated the main conflict. I couldn’t stand Zoey, the main character and narrator. The romantic relationship was written so strangely. Confusing in a bad way ending. Exposition took too long. Don’t recommend! :)

I liked the concept and I think it had a lot of potential but the main character irritated me. In the beginning it wasn’t bad but like 2/3 of the way through, it became a struggle to get through

Thank you Libro.fm for an ARC of It Happened One Christmas in exchange for my honest opinion.
I think I just have diabetes after reading this book, but it was exactly what I signed up for.
It Happened One Christmas is a Hallmark book about a Hallmark movie. Movie producer big city girl needs to scout a location for her Hallmark movie a few days before Christmas (of course). Small town guy that not only owns the tree farm but it's also said small town mayor doesn't want a movie there (of course). Let the story begins.
Look, this book is a no brainer but it's a good one to curl up to read before the holiday while seeing the cold weather outside. There are funny parts, a super cute dog that is conveniently trainer for certain things and not others and some classic cliches.
There are some jumps in logic at certain points that made me roll my eyes but it's also something expected.
Overall a nice read!

It Happened One Christmas is a cute holiday book with authentic Canadian charm. Based out of a small town in Quebec, this has all the beauty of a Canadian winter.
This is a fun, forced proximity romance, with a hint of grumpy x sunshine. You can feel the spark right away, and while Ben is being a barrier to Zoey who is trying to make a hallmark Christmas movie in the small town, he's definitely a good looking well mannered barrier to climb all over 😍
Thank you to @NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for my ebook!

Ben and Zoey are interesting, relatable, intriguing, entertaining, complex, fun characters. They captured my attention from the start and held it until the very end. I enjoyed their romance and the adventure that it took to get them to their HEA. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. I loved the quirkiness of the various characters. I wish we had gotten more from the ending, but overall enjoyed the story and reading experience.
I enjoyed the audio version of this book and the narrator.

Anyone who knows me knows:
1) I dislike Christmas
2) I hate Hallmark movies
3) I read pretty much exclusively fantasy books
And yet, this year I am feeling drawn to these books and movies. I SOAKED this book right up. Once I started, I was looking for every excuse to keep reading. Do I think Zoey and Ben will last? Meh. But, I liked some of the plot twists in this book that made it more interesting than said typical Hallmark movie love stories.
