I was not sure what to expect when I picked up One Last Stop, I knew it was a cute rom-com LGBTQ+ book. And after having a couple of bad mental health days, I really needed something happy to read. Luckily, One Last Stop was not a disappointment.

I absolutely loved the plot of this book, with a genre-bending plot, the book was unexpected and layered and while it was thoroughly enjoyable, I think it will surprise readers with its depth. The main time travel element of the story was actually the least interesting part, and although I was not convinced by the explanation of why Jane got displaced, I was able to put that aside and enjoy the interactions between the characters. The camaraderie shown by August and her new friends is so heart-warming it’s like a hug in a book.

I really enjoyed August’s friendships with her room-mates and how quickly they became her found family. I loved Nico, the trans psychic who constantly says insightful things and knows just how to help. Myla, the queer black artist who has enough energy for everyone around her. And then there’s Wes, a super grump who has a soft heart. The friendship and family themes were by far my favourite part of the book. I also like that the characters don’t automatically know what they’re doing; they capture that feeling of being young and learning as you go.

August is a fleshed out person and we get to see her as a full character. She’s a bit of a booknerd and is kind of introverted and she just wants to keep studying so that she doesn’t have to figure out where her life is heading. And I relate so hard to that. While Jane isn’t as fleshed out as August, since she doesn’t have a POV. She’s a cool Chinese lesbian, who has a big heart and a tender smile. As the book progresses you get to see how Jane and August become more confident, not just from each other but the support of their friends. It was refreshing to read.

I think this book was absolutely amazing, and people are going to love it. This is a sweet paranormal rom-com meet cute book, and it is going to appeal to a lot of people.

The first 1/4 of the book was slow but once I was into it, I could not put it down. Perfect mix of mystery and romance and self discovery!

Couldn’t even finish this. Plot was terrible and didn’t like the supernatural element.

Really enjoyed! Loved the representation of the diversity of the queer community. Did feel like some parts were drawn out but overall, a great read.

"...you know, that feeling? When you wake up in the morning and you have somebody to think about? Somewhere for hope to go? It's good. Even when it's bad, it's good."

It once again took me far too long to finally read this book, and again Casey managed to somehow shake my heart with her words.

When August moves to New York to finish her studies and effectively get lost in a city with too many people, she doesn't expect to meet a tall stranger on the subway. She also didn't expect her to be the person she sees a future with after only a handful of interactions.
Except that Jane is stuck on the Q, and she's supposed to be back in the 1970s.

The more time August spends with Jane, the more she helps her remember who she is and how she ended up here.

With a quirky and amazing group of friends, they put their brains and resources together, and just maybe they can undo what happened to Jane.

There are so many beautiful parts: there's the discovery of your purpose, friends that basically become your family, drag queens dipped in glitter and glam, and the hope that just maybe things will work out for the best.

This was a nice ride of a rom-com. Why it started off feeling very grey, it would up being fluffy and sweet. It was a very unexpected progression into softness. I enjoyed it. I found it lovely and light.
