And so we pick up where we left off in Little Women, with Jo and Professor Bhaer now happily married and running a school for boys. Little Men begins with orphan Nat Blake coming into Plumbfield, which introduces us to a lot of interesting young characters, including Mrs. Bhaers young sons Rob and Teddy, and Meg's twins Demi and Daisy. The book covers the adventures at the school, from the arrival of firebrand Dan and Naughty Nan to the celebrating of Thanksgiving as a family.
I loved this book. It was adorable, getting to see how all these children get on at Plumbfield, and I loved seeing Jo and the Professor as parents, not only to their two boys, but to all the children there. I especially loved Nat, Dan, and Demi, because they were the ones that pulled me in the most and were probably meant to. Now I'm excited for Jo's Boys, and I can't wait to get it!

Really enjoyed beginning this book - very low stakes and wholesome, a good break from intense or dark stories - but after a while started to feel too much like moralising and the characters weren't realistic. In the same vein as Little Women, but just not as good. Really random shift in tone to when a parent died for one chapter and then immediately went back to happy

After reading Little Women earlier this year, I found out that there is an entire serie of 4 books based on the original characters.
Now, since I'm a freak with lists I decided to read all the books in the serie and check em off my list. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing...
This book is very different than Little Women, the writing feels different and not in a good way. Sadly I'm comparing all the books in the series with Little Women and I know its an unfair comparison but it cant be helped.
The book tries to tell us what happens next to Jo, but its actually not about Jo, but about a bunch of kids.
There are many good insights in the book and I like how it pushes forward the idea that mixed gender education is very beneficial for both boys and girls(at a time when this was out of question).
It also tries to send a lot of positive messages but at many times in a kind of forced/moralizing way which I found annoying.
There are also some very strong opinions expressed by the author in the book which I dont agree with.
Anyway, only 1 book left in the series, Jo's Boys.

Enjoyable story. Did not like it as much as Little Women but it is a great novel by Alcott that should be read.
