Another amazing book from LA Cotton
4 1/2 stars. Enemies to lovers, hockey, angst levels so high! I’m not crying you’re crying
• On Thin Ice by L.A. Cotton is book two in the Lakeshore U series.
• Let me start off by saying the DUET narrator is *Chief kiss* I wish all audiobooks that had both female and males POV were duet narrator.
• Harper is a student at Lakeshore who has a strange relationship with her father, but she gets the shock of her life when he father is now the new assistant coach for the hockey team.
• Mason is a hockey player with an icebox as a heart, but for some reason, I can't get Harper out his mind.
• Mason proposes one night to get everything out of their system, but one night turned the tables for both of them.
• Rhis story gave me grump vs. sunshine with a slow burn and was highly successful. I love how L.A. Cotton wrote this story. I highly recommend listening to the AUDIOBOOK because at this rate, I want ALL THE LAKESHORE BOOKS IN DUET NARRATOR AUDIOBOOKS.

Wow I have so many feelings about this book! There is a lot in this book so if you are interested in hockey, enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine, autism or celiac disease representation, then this book will hit all the spots!
Mason was a straight up dick to Harper for most of the book. The enemies to lovers trope was done hard, because he really treated them like enemies! Without giving her a chance, Mason saw Harper as a puck bunny and didn’t want to give her the time of day regardless of the fact that their friends were in a relationship. Harper may have a messed up family life that has given her insecurities but her light shines bright and I absolutely think she is one of my favorite heroines ever written. Her compassion and loving nature slowly broke down Mason’s walls when he saw the way she was with his brother Scottie.
The problem with my intense love for Harper is that I almost feel like Mason wasn’t good enough. I didn’t understand why someone as amazing as Harper would even tolerate the way that Mason treated her. But as he slowly showed his other side, I warmed up to him. Mason might have been a grumpy jerk, but he is as loyal as they come to his family and those he loves.

Oooh this one was so much better than the first! I love Mason and Harper! Rory and Noah were kind of annoying in their appearances in this one.
Is it kind of weird that everyone seems to have really shitty parents (or at least one of them is anyway) like?? What are the chances...
Anyway I really enjoyed this! Mason is sexy af (and in my mind he looks nothing like the guy on that cover)

It’s funny that as I was reading this book, I thought that the characters were being very juvenile and then realized that of course, they are college students, who still haven’t got it together yet.
Mason is under a lot of stress from the pressures of hockey, studies and his brother back home. His father abandoned them when his brother was diagnosed as autistic, and his mother is struggling dealing with twelve year old Scottie alone. That’s why Mason drives so often home, in spite of the 1.5 hour drive, to help his mother deal with Scottie. He has no time for girlfriends, not even the puck bunny variety and he’s always going around like a cold-eyed grump.
Harper is hanging with the hockey crowd because of her bestie Rory who is Noah’s girlfriend. She’s very extra, so Mason clashes with her a lot, keeping her away from him. Immediately I knew he was afraid because he was very, very attracted to her.
The story is rich in contrasts, grumpy Mason to kind Harper. We learn that her father is a hockey legend but he’s always ignored her, which explains why she’s clingy. When she volunteers in a center where Scottie spends some afternoons, she wins Scottie over because she’s kind and patient with him. She accepts him with all his quirks and tics and this is when things start to change between Mason and Harper.
I loved their story, there was a lot of trust and acceptance. For Harper, being seen for the good person she is instead of the girl always looking for approval was important; she felt seen. And Camden felt like some of the weight on him was alleviated because she got him and helped with his little brother.
What I didn’t like was how much she griped about her father and how he doesn’t love her, and how much Mason kept talking about the pressures he’s under. I felt they needed more action and less whining. Even so, they’re story is lovely and entertaining, and it has many emotional moments and sexy times.

hockey romance, grumpyxsunshine, enemies to lovers, hates to want her, opposites attract, coach’s daughter.
4.75⭐️
this book. oh wow.
you’re not just getting a hockey romance, you’re getting emotions, raw freaking emotions. the perfect blend of everything in this.
Mason & Harper couldn’t be more opposite from one another, but that’s what makes them perfect for one another. once mason realizes it.
it was so nice to see a FMC with Celiac Disease, as it’s hardly ever done. i like being able to connect with characters on a personal note. Same with Mason’s younger brother Scottie, who is on the spectrum with autism. His character was so likable and he always made me laugh and/or feel emotional when he has a part in the story.
the push and pull between these two, the slow burn we get. everything. i loved it. i cannot even say it enough.
“The Steele Brothers have decided, we want to keep you.”
At this rate. I think Scottie was my favorite character.
I won’t go into toooooo much detail. but this book was everything.
