hockey romance, grumpyxsunshine, enemies to lovers, hates to want her, opposites attract, coach’s daughter.
4.75⭐️
this book. oh wow.
you’re not just getting a hockey romance, you’re getting emotions, raw freaking emotions. the perfect blend of everything in this.
Mason & Harper couldn’t be more opposite from one another, but that’s what makes them perfect for one another. once mason realizes it.
it was so nice to see a FMC with Celiac Disease, as it’s hardly ever done. i like being able to connect with characters on a personal note. Same with Mason’s younger brother Scottie, who is on the spectrum with autism. His character was so likable and he always made me laugh and/or feel emotional when he has a part in the story.
the push and pull between these two, the slow burn we get. everything. i loved it. i cannot even say it enough.
“The Steele Brothers have decided, we want to keep you.”
At this rate. I think Scottie was my favorite character.
I won’t go into toooooo much detail. but this book was everything.

On Thin Ice is a captivating hate-to-want-her book with well-developed characters. The story revolves around Mason’s inner battle, who is torn between chasing his dream and staying to help his family. The main characters, Harper and Mase, have a complicated relationship where Mase initially comes off as a prick but it is revealed that his behavior is driven by his desire for Harper, but later reveals his caring and protective side towards her. The way he cares for his little brother is heartwarming and adds depth to his character.
Harper is a sweet and selfless girl who is haunted by her abusive father, but is always willing to help others. Her relationship with Scottie is a beautiful aspect of the story.
The friendship between the hockey guys is also enjoyable to read about. The book also highlights the bond between the guys and their girlfriends, making it a heartwarming found-family story.

Mason is one sexy grump but Harper knows how to handle him perfectly!!!!
I was lucky enough to have an ARC copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest review with my own opinions. I highly recommend this entire series if you like hockey romance and sexy as all get up college guys.
Mason our hockey star with an attitude has a lot going on in his life, mainly his responsibility for his younger brother Scottie who has autism. He gets it into his head that with Scottie, dealing with his family priorities and hockey he doesn't have time or energy for a girl...enter Harper Dixon into his life. His best friends girlfriends best friend...his new coach's daughter...his brother's favorite volunteer at his autism center...talk about complicated.
There are so many moments in this book where I wanted to slap Mason. I mean he really knows how to play the Asshole Card but the layers to his grumpiness unfold seamlessly as time goes on. I loved watching Harper and Mason struggle with everything they each have going on and then deal with the fight and tension with one another.
Mason takes the cake for me in the Lakeshore U boys by far!

So this one didn't hit the mark completely like the other stories did for me, I still enjoyed the majority though.
Them as a couple just didn't seem like the best fit to me but I did like Mason's little brother, he stole the story really.
He was so likeable and I liked the relationship between him and Mason, he was a good big brother. I also liked the relationship between Harper and the little brother, they got along so well and she understood him. I also enjoyed hearing about the couples from the previous books, Noah was super likeable and Connor was just good with everyone, easy to like him. I did like how everything came together in the end though.

Mason Steele was the storm I never saw coming, but by God, if I didn't mind being swept up in its wreckage.
4.5 stars!
Mason Steele is everything! I honestly love when Lianne writes a grumpy/sunshine trope because I know she will hit us will all of the feels and angsty longing (I'm looking at you Enzo and Nora!!). Mason and Harper had so much to overcome in order for them to finally let the other in--Mason and his devotion to his family, and Harper's insecurities surrounding her famous father--but their courtship was so amazing to watch unfold. It was so fantastic being back in the Lakeshore U world and seeing all of our favorite hockey players again, happy and in love. The banter and teasing between Connor, Aiden, Noah, and Mason was absolutely brilliant and really showcased how much they care for one another. This is an amazing series so far, and I cannot wait for more

I didn’t think I could love this series more but this book proved me wrong.
First we met Mason, a hockey player on the Lakeshore U hockey team. He’s known as the grumpy, broody, a**hole on the team. But in reality, he just feels the weight of the word on his shoulders between school, hockey, & trying to take care of his mom & brother, Scottie, who is autistic.
We met Harper in ‘Break The Ice’. She is Rory’s best friend. Harper struggles with the need for attention as a result of her relationship with her estranged father, former NHL & Lakeshore U star. Harper & Mason immediate get off on the wrong foot when they first meet. Mason finds her annoying & Harper thinks he’s just another a**hole hockey player.
Mason does his best to ignore her & push her away despite the attraction he feels towards her. But the universe has other plans because between their friends dating & Harper volunteering at the center his brother goes to weekly, it’s impossible to avoid each other. To make matters more complicated, her father is the new assistant coach on the university’s hockey team & has taken a special interest in Mason.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure I liked Mason at first. He was a grade A jerk to Harper & I hated it for her. Harper has the biggest heart & I really related to her & the issues she’s dealt with in her relationship with her father.
As the story went on, I really admired Mason & his devotion to his brother. Having an autistic child myself, I know how difficult it can be & how protective you can be of them. By the end of the book, I really loved Mason & how protective he was over not only his brother but Harper as well.
I’m loving this series so far & can’t wait to read what’s to come! Mason & Harper have definitely taken the top spot for me so far.

This is the second book in the Lakeshore U series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Mason Steele is very grumpy. His main focus is hockey, and he has no time for a relationship. When he meets Harper, he assumes she’s just a puck bunny and is a complete a**hole to her. I mean, he is really mean to her, and his cruelty is unfounded.
Harper isn’t exactly a ray of sunshine, but she has had her fair share of hard times, and she’s still trying her best to keep smiling. She is a hockey legend’s daughter, but that means nothing to her due to her awful relationship with her father. Also, she has celiac disease, so she has to always be careful about what she eats. Oh, and that’s not to mention that she has to dorm with some pretty b*tchy girls. She definitely had a hard childhood and her college life isn’t so easy either, especially when her estranged father shows up to coach the hockey team. Despite all of that, she still tries to help others as much as she can and is still kind to everyone.
I’m not going to lie, I almost had it with Mason. Sure, he had some family issues as well, and I loved how protective he was of his brother, but his cruelty toward Harper was just awful. It seemed like he was going out of his way to be extra mean to her, and in his mind, she deserved it despite him not knowing a thing about her. I just wanted to yell at him.
But, damn did he redeem himself. When the tension between them snapped and Mason realized his attraction toward Harper, he couldn’t hold back. After that, he was a total goner. He really paid attention to her and learned what was safe for her to eat. He also became protective and possessive over her. Actually, he was a bit possessive before that, but I won’t get into that.
Also, I felt so bad for Harper. I mean, wow. When I saw she had a bad relationship with her father, well, it had nothing to do with her and everything to do with him. He was the epitome of a**hole; even more so than Mason, but that’s probably because he was her father, the a**hole who gave her life. I hated him. At the end? Still hated him.
Anyway, Mason was so swoony after he gave in to his feelings, but there was one part where I knew, I just knew, it was going to cause something to happen between them. Was I mad at Mason, again? Yes. I was. It was completely Mason’s fault. But with how quickly he tried to “fix” his screw up, I didn’t stay mad for very long. He knew he messed up and immediately owned up to it and let Harper know the truth.
This was an angsty, grumpy/sunshine, college sports romance with real life issues mixed in. It was another great book by L.A. Cotton.
Oh, and the narrators, Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter did an amazing job bringing the story to life. This is narrated in duet, and they both did a great job differentiating their voice for each male/female character.

This is my favorite so far! LA just puts a really good feeling into the atmosphere for college hockey. Harper's dad ends up coaching Lakeshore U's hockey team. Mason is just a grumpy guy who thinks Harper is another puck bunny. Its a bit enemies to lovers BUT I have Mason is sooo cute with his brother Scottie who is autistic. Harper does activities with Scottie (who he has a crush on Harper).
Scottie just brought so much light to the story. I just really enjoyed Mason and Harper's relationship.
Narrators in duet were Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton and they were soooo good perfect for their characters and I really loved this duet version.
