This series! It feels like seeing your bestie again after being apart for ages, every time L.A.Cotton releases a new one I cant wait to jump in. And I read each one with a huge smile. This one follows Mason Steele and Harper and was not at all what I expected!! Weve seen snippets of both characters in previous books. Mason seemed very grumpy and unapproachable. Harper was, well - a puck bunny (sorry!) but getting to know them explained so much.
Harper comes from a hockey background, shes so clued on around the game because her father is a lakers legend. But she wasnt the son he wanted so its a sore subject. And this is one of the reasons behind her crave for attention. Mason, he is still kinda grumpy but for good reason. Hes keeping his head down and has responsibilities that his teammates dont. His little brother Scottie is Autistic.
Mason fights (&hides) his attraction to Harper for a good chunk of the book and it makes for great tension. These two find themselves thrown together more and more, with friends dating, volunteering, and Harpers dad becoming the assistant coach. I loved the plot surrounding Scottie. Harpers patience, Masons dedication & love. Through this they found they did have a reel connection (one that couldnt be gotten rid of after one night) and they were wonderful together.
Mason is def up there as one of my favourite boys but Noah still steals it for me. I loved the humour when all of the players are together, the small updates slipped in on the previous couples. Again, I love this series. Plus Hockey boys.. theyre just *chefs kiss*

Another amazing Lakeshore book!
We love to watch the playboys fall, and damn did Mason fall hard. While they weren't my favorite couple of the series, they're my favorite individuals...if that makes sense. Both struggle with living up to expectations they place on themselves, but for very different reasons.
I loved the relationship Harper and Scottie had. It's so wholesome and beautiful and definitely added an extra layer of love in this story.
What I love the most about these books is that every person struggles with doubt or trauma, and it's well executed in the books without being overdone. I related a lot to these characters and it made for a beautiful story

In the beginning, I have to admit that I could not stand Mason. I thought he was a big jerk; especially with the way that he spoke to Harper. I felt really bad for Harper. Not only was she getting it from her father but Mason as well. However, the way that Mason interacted with his younger brother, Scottie won me over. I warmed up to him much better.
The relationship between Harper and Mason is more of a slow burn. Yet, when they finally cross that line and become a couple, that is when the heat gets turned up. From here on out, I could not get enough of Mason and Harper. My favorite though is Scottie. The things he would say kept me laughing.

Thank you Forever & Always PR for the audio arc of this!
I loved the narration of this and had a FANTASTIC time with this. My biggest issue was that sometimes Mason was just too mean to Harper even though he did grovel and make up for his mistakes there were just some things he said that bugged me, but this was still a wonderful book and I loved it!!!

Mason Steele and Harper Dixon
“The boy with ice around his heart loved the girl with her heart on her sleeve”.
Mason was a hard nut to crack. I honestly didn’t like him and kept telling Harper in my head that she could could do SO much better. Lol. But Mason Steele definitely redeems himself.
Hockey is life for this team at Lakeshore U but Mason has his family to worry about. With his father stepping out, and leaving his mom single, working, and raising a pre-teen with autism, she’s overwhelmed.
Mason and his little brother are best friends. I seriously adored Scottie and thought the author did an amazing job highlighting what autism can look like for someone on the spectrum. Mason is being pulled in different directions. He wants to be there for his mom and brother (especially since the father walked out) and Mason also has hockey, his team, school, keeping grades up, a social life.
He’s got NO time for chicks. Especially highly annoying ones and puck bunnies…
Harper Dixon is a social butterfly. She enjoys attention and the idea of romance. But she loves hockey. She knows hockey. Her father was a famous hockey player at one time… but Harper has her own demons. Everyone can idolize her father but she knows the real person he is. An awful man. And it created some daddy issues.
Harper just wants to be loved. She sees something the Mason when she watches Mason with Scottie…. She keeps pursuing him.
This is kinda an enemies to lovers, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, we got daddy issues, hockey, college slow burn romance.
We see previous characters grow more and some crazy stuff happens. I love when all the guys and girls get together and we see the romance between everyone! I highly recommend reading this series in order and the prequels!

Harper and Mason's story was a perfect blend of snark, banter, attraction and angst.
I adored Harper. Despite her strained relationship with her father, she was the sunshine and roses that everyone needs in their life. Her heart was huge and so was her love.
While I thought Mason was a bit of a jockhole for a lot of the book, he does end up redeeming himself. He definitely brought the grump.
I admired the diversity and inclusion this book contained. Not only did we see dietary disease but also addiction and a developmental disorder. I love it when there is depth to the characters like that.
Highly recommend this book, it is a fantastic addition to the series.

Mason and Harper have never gotten along. From the moment they first interacted, Mason has written off Harper as a bunny and hasn't wanted anything to do with her. The problem is, the heat between them is simmering and neither of them realize that they can't hold it off from exploding. Things to look for in this book:
Hockey romance ✔️
Coach's daughter ✔️
Enemies to lovers ✔️
Grumpy/sunshine ✔️
Found family ✔️
Autism Rep ✔️
Celiac Rep ✔️
When Mason proposes one night to get each other out of their systems, he wakes up in the morning to an empty and a lot of unwanted feelings. Mason tries to fight what he feels for Harper, but when he seems how good Harper is with his brother, he knows it is a lost cause. The chemistry between Mason and Harper was explosive and I just loved them as individuals as well. This was a slow burn for sure, but definitely worth it once they finally get together and stop fighting the feelings they have.
Both Harper and Mason have complicated families - Mason's dad left when his brother Scotty was diagnosed with autism and decided that he couldn't handle it. Harper's dad has never wanted her and has made that known her entire life. Man, scenes with both of the fathers in it were hard to read at times, especially the vitriol that Harper's father would spit at her. I have never hated a character like I hated him.
Mason's brother Scotty was a fantastic character and in my opinion, stole the show. His individual relationships with both Harper and Mason were great. I loved his instant connection with Harper and I felt like he was an instrumental part in getting Mason and Harper together.
Finally, let's talk narrators. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite male narration voices and he did a fantastic job as Mason. Stella Hunter was also the perfect Harper!! And two words: DUET NARRATION!!!
Can't wait to read more books in this world!
