I recently re-read this play for a class on African American literary movements and it honestly gets better every time. You can clearly tell that Hansberry influenced decades of Black writers that came after her and the more I study A Raisin in the Sun the more I realize how nuanced the play is.

Such an incredible play. I didn't have any expectations going into this but it blew me away.

Well-written, dynamic, witty, and delightfully-flawed characters demonstrate the lengths black people have had to go to to follow and fulfill their dreams. We all have dreams, sure, but the point here is to examine how black people have had to either work way harder to find them or watch them shatter faster. The history of this is written about and told excellently.

A classic for several reasons
