Didn’t enjoy this - writing is quite weak and the story was missing something to really drive it forward. Only read it for the movie

I absolutely adored this book, historical fiction at its finest. I loved the author's prose and rich, vivid descriptions of English life in the 1500s. The characters were interesting, and the story was made even better by the choice to focus on Agnes. A stunning portrait of family life, love, and grief.

i liked this book more than i thought i would. the language was beautiful and poetic, beyond vivid in its imagery and sensory detail, and the centering of agnes and the community in stratford instead of the unnamed shakespeare in london is an unexpected and interesting lens through which to approach the historicity of the creation of hamlet as a play.
