It was such a wild ride. The 3 different stories were all so thrilling. I kept trying to figure out how they were connected and when it was finally revealed
4 estrelas!

CJ Tudor has written a high octane, bingeable thriller that is pure nightmare fuel. Living though a pandemic today, this book hits really close to home. Even though this one takes a situation like our own and cranks it up 5 notches its still not hard to feel pure terror while reading. It’s scary because it seems like something that COULD happen. Hopefully not in our lifetimes though!
The Drift is about a crumbling society when a virus takes over the world. It tells the story of 3 different individuals/timelines as the virus rips the world apart and seamlessly weaves the timelines together brining one shock after another. We get to meet a group of kids who are on their way to a “retreat” that will offer them a safe place to quarantine. However, when their bus gets into a major accident they being to realize that it may not have been an accident at all. Then we meet a group of people stranded on a cable car 1000 feet in the air. These people were also on their way to the retreat after signing up to be test subjects but something or someone has other plans for them. Finally, we meet the group of people who work at the retreat. All very different people who are facing their own nightmares when one by one they are being killed off. How all three of these stories come together makes this one exciting and original novel!
CJ Tudor is an excellent writer and each and every book she writes is unique, fast paced, and hard to put down. I found this one to be atmospheric (the perfect winter read), uncomfortable, disturbing, and very chilling. So, if that’s your cup of tea then I highly recommend grabbing a copy of this one! My only complaint is that all the characters I was rooting for were swiftly taken out. Perhaps this makes the novel more realistic if you think about it.

This review is a tough one to write because CJ Tudor is one of my favorite authors. I have rated all of her books on the high end. I will say, I am not sure how much of it was the fault of the author, as I am not really into this subject matter much. I also think there were quite a few perspectives and characters to follow, and I never felt connected to any of them. However, the pace was pretty good and there were a few thrilling scenes but I did not jive with this book overall. I am still giving it a three because I think 'it's me, not you', and I can definitely see others loving it. I did feel like there were redeemable qualities toward the end of the book. I don't want to say too much to avoid spoilers.

Enjoyed this book. I like claustrophobia horror and it was this multiplied by 3! 3 different storylines and POVs but it was a good flow and the characters were developed so it wasn’t confusing. Kept me in the dark until the end

3.7 - This one reminded me of the video game Until Dawn in so many ways and I was so there for it. I enjoyed the multiple POVs especially for the big reveal / coming together moment near the end of the book. This one had me fully engrossed and I kept wanting to read to find out what the hell was going on. Only one of my assumptions was correct but even then it wasn't entirely correct either. I really enjoyed this one and the whole take on infections, pandemics, those in power, and what we will do to each other.
This was a fun read - a viral apocalypse and a deadly snowstorm collide, and we're following 3 groups of people who were trapped on the way to safety. But how did they end up stranded? It becomes pretty clear that there's some kind of conspiracy lurking below the surface events. This was well-written and I enjoyed the surprises along the way. Often I had inklings that something was wrong (just like the main characters in each group we were following), but it didn't ruin the reveal of what was happening.
*Spoilers ahead*
I was really enjoying this one up til the end, which I found a bit unbelievable (How would Carter not have caught the virus on that bus, for example, unless he was immune? And yet, he caught it at the end. Doesn't make sense to me).
I didn't know anything about this story going in, and I was pleasantly surprised when we discovered that all 3 groups we were following weren't in the same timeline, and that Carter was the link between them.
His thirst for revenge was intense and made a good motive for everything he was going through. However, I'm not sure why he picked one guy to fixate on when his sister died as a result of lots of people's choices. Yes, Dr Graham maybe kept her name off the initial roster to flee the infected school. But what about the car that caused the bus to crash? Doesn't he want revenge against them? That's what actually killed her, the crash. And he was driving, so isn't it maybe his fault too? And yet there's no self-hatred or regret there.
It was a little odd that his giant tattoo of his sister was only mentioned in the second of 3 timelines - did he somehow have it done after she died? That would be weird, to find time and money for that in the middle of his run up the mountain for revenge. But it would be weirder if he had it inked BEFORE she died (who gets their sister's face in a huge portrait on their stomach if she's alive and well?) and before the initial bus crash. And in the current timeline the retreat, he burns up his only photo of his sister so nobody finds it later and figures out his story - but someone could still see his giant tattoo, so why not keep her photo on you, too? Plus they mention the open, group changing and shower area. Someone would have seen that tattoo at the retreat.
Besides a few details, this was a good one.

CJ is a genius, an artist, everything and everything.
Fast paced and gripping this book is extremely good! CJ doesn’t hold back when it comes to her characters and I became instantly engrossed with all of them (and there are a lot of them!)
The gory elements were littered throughout. Not overpowering but punchy enough to make me surprised when they happened and reel in disgust. Well done!
By about half way through I knew how each of the three stories were linked, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to find out how and why they were linked as fast as possible!
Also, awesome world building.
Don’t know what else to say, just stellar
