“I know I’m lucky that I have someone by my side who would go to war for the people she loves, and it’s made me realize, right now, she’s going to war for herself.”

It was fine. The idea of a figure skater and a hockey player getting together makes for an entertaining plot, especially if you have time to really go into detail about the sports and the prep that comes with them. To me, this story focused mainly on the time these characters spent sleeping with each other and didn't give near enough attention to the plot. It's like everything else just served as filler between the smut, and it took away alot of the potential impact the story could have had. It also took a little bit to get interested in the story because the beginning was slower.
It wasn't believable to me that they were in their very early 20's. Everything, especially the steam, made it seem like these were grown adults and not college kids still trying to figure life out. It definitely didn't hold a candle to the Off-Campus series in terms of bringing me into the world of hockey and keeping me invested in their lives on and off the ice.
The book did an excellent job with emphasizing the importance of open and honest communication, as well as how beneficial therapy can be to helping that process become second nature. Major kudos for that!
Even though it was only called out maybe one time, it's painfully obvious that Anastasia suffers from body dismorphia and an unhealthy relationship with food, which was absolutely not her fault. All of that stemmed from manipulation tactics from toxic people in her life, but it was hard reading some of her comments about her eating habits, weight, etc. when you knew what was going on behind the scenes. Thankfully, she was able to work through these things with the help of Nate, friends, and therapy, but it could be hard for some people to read.
The side characters were a welcomed addition to the story, however, they did kind of jumble things up at times. Too many characters at once takes the focus away from the main people, so I think they could have made fewer appearances.
Aaron is a flaming pile of garbage. End of story. Henry is the best thing since sliced bread, and I would consider reading a sequel if it was his story.
The pregnancy trope wasn't truly surprising seeing that they mentioned someone getting pregnant at least once in every chapter, but I did think it was pretty unnecessary. Also a bit unrealistic that it took over 2 years for it to actually happen with the way they were handling intimacy...
