Cute and fun story. My favorite character was the dog. Enjoyed there being more than one plot line which doesnt usually happen in holiday romances. I listened to this book while I did my holiday shopping online.
Perfect feel-good holiday read! Hallmark movie in book form.
Another feel-good romance by Susan Mallery! I loved this story of sisters Dena and Reggie (Regina) Summerville in the town of Wishing Tree, WA. The entire book takes place during Thanksgiving until the days leading up to Christmas. Both women find love - one with a HS first love, and the other with a kind and handsome visitor. The story has an array of family and friends - and cute dogs - to provide extra character to the novel, plus a few likely candidates for book 2 in the series! Definitely a cute read that can get you into the Christmas spirit.
Hoopla audio. Cute, easy holiday romance. Belle the Great Dane as a character is cute.
I hate this book and I hate that my 2022 reads ended with this. If you cut out all the parts where she is full on conversing with her non verbal dog, the book would be 25% shorter-- which it should be! Her dog did not "give her a look as if to say" ANYTHING.
It also caused me to create a new rule for myself-- if an author uses the phrase "girl parts tingle" or "butthead" more than once, I just need to DNF instead of plugging through like I did with this one. I mean GIRL PARTS TINGLE. Really!!!!
Finally, I am shocked that the book has wedding in the title and the wedding was maybe... two pages of the entire book, and hardly mentioned? Very misleading as a premise.
Finally, the two sisters are disappointingly chaste. If I have to read the excruciating details of each meal option for the wedding venue (no really, this is actually a longer and more detailed part than the actual friggin wedding) then I also want some more steamy scenes to get me through this alleged double "romance" novel.

I have read a couple of Susan's books and have really enjoyed them so I was keen to make a start on this as soon as the copy dropped through my letterbox. I was ready for a bit of Christmas cheer and seasonal romance and this book delivered them in spades!
There are so many references to Christmas throughout this book that you can't help but feel like you're standing in the middle of a Hallmark movie, don't even get my started on the 'Its a Wonderful Life' cinema which has a Christmas film showing throughout the whole year. I mean when can I move to Wishing Tree? I think I was very much like a tourist, wanting to know about all the shops on The Wreath (that's the circular town square) but mostly, waiting patiently for The First Snowfall and the town celebrations to begin. That's if a village advent calendar wasn't enough already...
Have I sold the place to you yet? If not, they decorate (and I mean everyone) their houses the day after thanksgiving, they have things called Hand Pies which sound amazing, a bar called Holiday Spirits, and a wrapping paper shop called Wrap Around the Clock. I've not even started speaking about the locals yet but I'm sure if you're anything like me you'll be wanting to pack your bags now!
But onto the people, this book is focused mainly on Reggie and her sister Dena, both the loveliest humans and I found myself loving them pretty soon on. But to me the star of the show was Micah, it was his kindness, how smoothly he fitted into the community at Wishing Tree and just how he cared for Dena from their very first meeting.
We were a bit spoilt with this book though as we don't just get one romantic story but two, (or three if you count Belle and Burt) as Reggie is reunited with her high school boyfriend Todd and you can tell instantly that those feelings haven't quite simmered down...
I really liked watching both friendships slowly build and develop into truly special relationships. Harrison was another star of the show and his relationship with his dad, Todd, is so so strong, it is clear that they both love and care for each other so much and I loved their man-to-man chat near the end, I mean my poor heart was in pieces!
I could probably talk about this book for hours so I'm going to stop now and instead tell you to get ordering your own copy so that you can discuss it with me after! Highly, highly recommend this book and I so need to find more of Susan's Christmas books to read!
This one was not my favourite. Very slow in places and it didn’t grip me as much as I wanted it too. Not bad but could have been better
