Finished the Malloreon today. While some parts of the series were slow, it was still a good read. I am glad that it has become part of my collection.

This is a very satisfying conclusion. There is a great adventure feel and the story is more involved than the two books before it. It wraps up neatly and there's much to be happy about.

All good things come to an end, and this overly long journey finally closes its story in The Mallorean. I can't say anything I wanted was kept loose, all the strings were tied well enough, too well in fact that I'm heavily surprised anyone could come up with alternate fanfics on the characters.
The situation with the inevitable Choice was actually much more interesting than the battle against Torak in The Belgariad, but the story of this second series itself felt a little repetitive, with an addition of a few entertaining characters. And I suppose Eddings takes the whole concept of 'coming full circle' very literally, dropping each character in their respective environments, letting them live their 'futures.' I still don't buy the whole prophecy scenario with Cyradis and her tests, but I suppose I can suspend philosophical thinking if I just think that the two conscious entities were playing an overly epic game. Deep down inside, I bet they were both Drasnian.
I'm actually going to miss these characters. Nevermind, I have The Belgariad sitting comfortably on my bookshelf now, waiting to be reread on a random date!

I know the others give this book a bad rating, but nostalgia, and the wonderful ending deserves five stars. I will miss walking alongside Belgarath, and I am glad that I had these books to fall back on in this stage in my life. I have not read fantasy in years, and I thought I'd had enough of the genre. I have not. It's time to read more.
I'll miss this universe, I recommend this to anyone who's not prejudiced against clichéd storylines. Eddings wrote in a time where to imitate Tolkien was the best of things. I'm not really convinced that it is yet a bad thing.
A truly beautiful tale.
