i was in the mood for a good romantasy and this one did not disappoint. i absolutely LOVED prisca, she was such a great fmc. i loved seeing her evolve through the book. i really loved the world building and all the side characters. i thought they were great and i immediately started caring for them. the only reason it’s not a 5 stars is that i’m not sold on lorian yet. i have a tough time with these types of mmc but i’m hoping that with the following books and his pov now that i know his big secret, i’ll enjoy him more and i can root for him and prisca, because it’s not the case yet.

This was a strange one to rate for me because I really enjoyed the story but not the romance. The spicy scenes just felt out of nowhere. I didn't feel the build up at all.
The actual spicy scenes were written well and I thought the dialog throughout the book was very good. But it just felt like a lot got cut in editing.
I love a good dual POV and one-horse trope. Plus hidden identities are my jam. I'm about to start book 2 and just really hope the build up into those more intimate moments are there.

This scratched my romantasy itch. I bought every book in the series immediately

Did I hate it? No, but I barely liked it.
But it just couldn't get into this like I wanted to. Pace felt really off, characters aren't well fleshed out (constantly had to remind myself who was who). I will probably continue the series, but definitely not rushing for the second. There is stuff to like, but a lot that holds this book back.
