Addicting. The story was good if not a little predictable, the magic was interesting, and the MMC was broody. I love a morally grey man.
The FMC was exhaustingly unobservant, which got old quick. The number of times I was yelling “for the love of god, he’s not a mercenary!” at her was shocking. Open your eyes girlfriend.
It reminded me a lot of What Lies Beyond the Veil but less Gods.

I really enjoyed this story. There were a few points that fell flat for me but I do hope that I get some answers in the second book. As an introduction to the world I thought the first half of the book was a little slower paced then I’m used to. I did like the FMCs drive to protect the ones she loves.
